If you know me, you know I'm a very opinionated person. And i don't normally keep my opinions to myself. However when I do voice my opinion, I don't shoot down other's opinions, and I only give my opinion if asked.
The thing about an opinion ... is that it is exactly that, an opinion. Its not a fact, its not something that you can research, its an idea you have formed in relation to a topic. For example I really like Transformers; that is my opinion. I realise that some people don't like Transformers, that they think Megan Fox is a terrible actress, that the animators used the CG too much, that Shia Labeouf doesn't have the right 'look' for the male lead ... the list goes on and on. And I agree with a couple of those things ... like Megan Fox (thank God she won't be in the 3rd one), but I still think that Transformers is an amazing movie. And that is my opinion.
When I offer my opinion I respect that some people are going to argue with it, the part that I don't understand is the blatant rudeness that people give their opinions with. They shoot down others opinions, calling them 'wrong'. How can you have a wrong opinion? Its an opinion ! You can persuade someone to change their opinion but you can't tell them that their opinion is wrong.
I agree. Nothing is more condenscending when someone shoots down your opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and view on things. People should try to be more accepting of other peoples opinions.
ReplyDeleteSome people argue so much about how their opinion is right and your is wrong no matter what. Its just an opinion, people shouldn't take it so personally, instead some people should just learn to listen to others opinions and state there own and leave it at that, people shouldn't shoot down someones opinion because their's is the "right" one. Good job on this :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS SO MUCH. It drives me so insane when a friend and I will have a different opinion things. You can think what you want, and I'll respect it, but it doesn't mean I agree with you. Facts are facts, but there is no right and wrong when it comes to opinions.
