TLC has a show called Toddlers and Tiaras and its about child pagents.
These children quickly become pampered princesses. They are spoiled rotten, getting anything they want. They aren't allowed to have a normal childhood, because their mothers or fathers want them to be successful in the world of pagents. They get their nails, their hair and their make up done. They are put on diets at a young age and put into excercis regimes. They are forced to take dance, singing lessons, or music lessons. What happened to going outside with a friend and making mud pies when you're little?

This little girl was a participant in a child pagent. Her name is Aliyah, and she was on season one of Toddlers and Tiaras. Do you see the fake nails, done up hair, do you see the amount of make up she is wearing? I think that is more make up then I have ever worn in my life, and she honestly can't be more than 7 !

So I searched on youtube for this show, as I have never watched it, and came across this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsy-rRzkufQ

Do you see how bratty, and rude these children are to their parent's ? And do you see their parents taking them to get spray on tans?! And the fact that the one girls dress cost $2000. I'm sorry, but that is just ridiculous. When you have little children they should be doing little kid things like playing outside, or playing sports or drawing. Not getting manicures, not having dance routines beat into them, and certanly not getting spray on tans! They need to be enjoying their childhood, enjoying their freedom to wear and do what ever they want. They are too young to have to worry about that stuff !

And of course the girls like it, because they get to play dress up and act like grown ups. I just don't see how parents who love their children can put them into such a horrible world.

  1. I definately agree with you! How could parents expose their children to such a superficial world at such a young age, These girls are probably going to end up being snobby vain girls who will end up marrying rich just so they can get their plastic surgery paid for. Its insane to think that these girls dont get to enjoy the few years of being completely carefree and innocent.

  2. I totally agree with this. i absolutely dislike this show!! It is a horrible representation of the way a child should live. They are spoiled little brats and i dont think i could stand them! Thank you for sharing my opinion :P

  3. Thank you for your thoughts :) I completely agree with you! I feel so badly for those little girls; they live in such a superficial world where all that matters is their appearance. Why any parent would feel this is a positive is beyond me. Perhaps they feel they're giving their daughters a good start in life but, I'm sorry, this is just not so! It strikes me as a form of abuse; they have taken some of the most basic and pure experiences that a child could have and replaced it with something that is perhaps even perverted. Thank you for taking the time to talk about this :)

  5. I hate that these kids are being raised in such a negative way. Their parents are teaching them that appearance is everything in life, so how will this benefit them later on?

  6. I have come across this show a couple of times while flicking through channels and I always think how sad it is that these pagants even exist. But I also kind of think that the parents are putting their children through this, not for the child but for themselves. It also seems to me that the parents are making up for their own insecurities by living through their children. It's like if they can make their kids beautiful, they are too. How sad is that?

  7. Seriously this is ridiculous, I'm not sure that this show has any sincere viewers compared to the people who watch it for the shock factor or to mock the parents. These parents are raising their children in an environment that is constantly telling them that they aren't good enough; and that they need to be perfect. When I was 7 years old my favourite thing to do was play in the mud with my friends.. I think this would be hell for me, and as I would imagine, most 7 year olds.

  8. Seeing this show on tv makes me laugh. Then I realize that this is ligit... then I'm a little bit sick about it all. What scares me more is that my Mom wanted me to do that when I was three. Of course I was too busy making mud traps for my brothers girlfriend. Thank god I am not like that or I would probably be a snotty loser with 2 frienemies and be like Lindsay Lohan in mean girls.
